Jim Hodapp - Founder & Software Coach

I love working with software engineers like you who are passionate about learning to more effectively create new software systems and work with existing ones with less frustration.

I've been crafting software since I was 10 and worked with nearly every major programming language, including several more obscure ones. I’ve created and worked with a diverse kinds of software systems in embedded, operating systems and utilities, distributed web-based systems (backend and frontend), mobile backend and software testing tools.

For my technical education, I studied both computer science and electrical engineering.

I worked for many years as a software engineer holding nearly every common role that’s possible in the tech industry. I've held roles as a technical pre-sales engineer, led multiple software teams as technical lead, and led multiple product development teams and engineering orgs as an engineering manager/director.

I get a lot of personal satisfaction from helping engineers better articulate their career direction, improve on their technical and soft skills, and deeply support them in achieving their outcomes.

And I’m excited to show you the impact that software engineering coaching with me will make on the trajectory of your career!

Jake Foster - Software Coach

I’ve been developing software professionally for 20 years in variety of domains including services, websites, robotics, embedded and mobile applications. I’ve worked at large corporations (Amazon, Apple, Microsoft) and small companies & startups.

I’ve loved programming ever since I discovered it as a kid but through my career I’ve found that I really enjoy mentoring fellow developers to meet their career goals. It’s a rewarding experience to help people get the promotion or role change that they’ve been dreaming of! Moving into software coaching felt like a logical step to spend more of my time providing others with my perspective and guidance.

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and went to University of Washington where I got my Bachelors in Computer Science. I moved to Austin in 2016 and love it here, particularly for the live music. In between, I lived (and developed software!) on Maui and in Sydney, Australia.

I am a Certified Professional Coach and I draw on my years of experience as a software developer to provide software engineering coaching. Areas of focus are team leadership, career advancement, technical interviewing, iOS & robotics software development and productive sabbaticals.

I’d be happy to work with you to meet your next career goal, or work on figuring out what you want that next goal to be!
